Welcome to the home stretch of your pregnancy!
These last 12 weeks are the time of the most rapid growth for you and baby. Prepare for your third trimester with these must-haves to stay comfortable and healthy.
Changes To Your Body During the Third Trimester of Pregnancy
During the third trimester of pregnancy, most women are feeling very pregnant.
At this point, you’re probably gaining about 1/2-1 pound per week and moving much slower than before.
Also, during the third trimester, many women start experiencing fatigue again.
Plus, you may experience heartburn, swelling in their feet, and other aches and pains as bodies stretch and grow.
The goal during your third trimester is to keep your body as safe and comfortable as possible.
These must-haves for the third trimester have your growing body in mind.
Now’s the time to rest up on your home stretch until your baby arrives.
Third Trimester Must-Haves
1. Compression Socks
Chances are during your third trimester, your feet will swell at least a little bit.
If you spend a lot of time on your feet or you’re pregnant during the summer time, you may experience even more swelling.
Help prevent varicose veins and achiness in your legs with some compression socks.
Compression socks help improve your circulation and reduce swelling in your legs and feet.
2. Comfortable Shoes
In addition to compression socks, make sure you have a pair of comfortable shoes for your third trimester.
You want to find some that provide good support for you as you’re moving around to help take pressure off your knees and your back.
3. Foot Spa
Sometimes the only thing that helps your feet is a good foot soak.
I love this foot spa to soak my feet after a day running around. You’ll instantly feel relaxed and comfortable.
Kimonos are perfect to have on hand for when nothing else fits. They’re great to layer over a tank top and leggings to keep you comfortable and stylish.
5. Healthy Snacks
You may find you can’t stomach big meals, so try to eat small healthy snacks throughout the days.
Protein shakes with Orgain protein powder are the perfect high protein snack to sip on.
Other healthy snack ideas include nuts, no-bake energy balls, and hummus and veggies.

6. Snoogle Pregnancy Pillow
Sleep is probably more of a struggle at this point.
Make sure you have a comfortable body pillow to support your growing belly while you try to get some rest.
Body pillows are perfect to wedge under your belly to help take some strain off of your abdominal wall.
The Snoogle is a perfect shape for your growing belly.
As your uterus and baby continue to grow, you may find a resurgence of heartburn or reflux in your third trimester.
Always keep a quality antacid on hand just in case.
Also, you can try to avoid reflux by eating smaller meals, reducing spicy foods, citrus, and tomatoes.
8. Water Bottle
By now you should be in a habit of drinking more water every day. Keep it up and bring your water bottle everywhere.
Once your baby is born and your milk comes in, you’ll find you’re even thirstier than you are already. Now is the perfect time to get in the habit of always having water around.
9. Nursing Bra
By now, your breasts have probably increased at least a cup size. Once you’re approaching the end of your pregnancy, it’s the perfect time to invest in a few nursing bras.
When you’re picking out a nursing bra, you want to look for both comfort and function. You’ll be spending a lot of time in it, so you want to find one that will grow with you and keep you comfortable.

10. Dress For Baby Shower
Most women have their baby shower during their third trimester, so a cute maternity dress is a must.
Amazon has loads of cute choices including this dress which is stylish, but versatile.
11. Safe Nail Polish
If you want to get dressed up for your baby shower, make sure the nail polish you use is a safe and non-toxic brand.
Most conventional nail polishes contain many harmful chemicals which are absorbed into your bloodstream.
Opt for an safer alternative such as Ella and Mila.
12. Soft Toothbrush
During pregnancy, your gums become very sensitive. You may even notice occasional bleeding.
Use a soft toothbrush while gently brushing to keep your teeth clean without irritating your gums.
13. Belly Butter
As your belly continues to grow, you might notice than your skin feels tight and itchy. A high-quality belly butter is a must!
Belly Butter helps prevent stretch marks and relieve itchy skin.
14. Exercise Ball
An exercise ball is a perfect way to stay in shape and prepare for labor.
If you take a birthing class, you’ll learn different techniques to use an exercise ball to stretch, reduce labor pains, and push your baby.
Swimming is one of the best ways to exercise throughout pregnancy.
Grab a cute maternity swimsuit and head to the beach or pool to stay active all pregnancy.
Plus, you’ll be able to use a maternity swimsuit postpartum as your belly gradually returns to your pre-pregnancy size.
16. Belly Support Band
A lot of women experience back pain during their third trimester.
A belly support band helps take some of the weight off your back and improve your posture.
17. Underwear Protection
As you near the end of your 3rd trimester, you’ll start noticing more discharge.
Grab some panty-liners to keep your underwear clean.
I also recommend investing in thick postpartum pads for your baby’s arrival.
You will have a lot of discharge afterwards, so you want to be ready.
Plus, if your water breaks at home, you’ll want to be prepared so you can stay dry while you head to the hospital.
18. Comfortable Underwear
Comfort is a must during your third trimester. Make sure you have some underwear that’s comfy and supportive.
As your belly and uterus keep growing, you may not fit into your pre-pregnancy underwear anymore. Grab some soft cotton maternity undies.
I love leggings throughout pregnancy, but especially during your final trimester when you’re tired and want to lounge more.
These leggings are my favorite since they’re both affordable and comfy.
20. Car Seat and Baby Gear
During your 3rd trimester, most women have their baby shower where they get all of the essentials for their new baby.
If you don’t have a baby shower, a few items you absolutely must-have are diapers, clothes, and a car seat.
You cannot leave the hospital without a car seat, so it’s important to make sure you have a safe one ready to go.
The Chicco Keyfit is my personal favorite since it’s lightweight and easily connects in and out of the car.
21. Nursing Pads
Some women start leaking milk prior to giving birth.
It’s a good idea to invest in nursing pads ahead of time so you’ll be prepared.
There are different options available- reusable or single use.
I prefer these reusable nursing pads that are soft and breathable. You simply throw them into the washer with your clothes and use them again.
You’ll be doing extra wash anyways once your baby’s born so you might as well help the environment and opt for reusable pads.
22. Prenatal Vitamins
Hopefully you’ve been taking prenatal vitamins throughout your pregnancy. It’s important to continue until you deliver and as long as you’re nursing.
You’re still providing essential nutrients to your growing baby and prenatal vitamins help ensure you have everything the baby requires.
Also, during your third trimester, your baby’s brain is doing a lot more developing and growing. Make sure to take an extra DHA supplement if you’re not already
DHA is a type of fatty acid similar that helps brains and nerves develop.
23. Online Birthing Class
The last third trimester must-have is an online birthing class. Whether this is your first pregnancy or not, anyone can benefit from a birthing class.
